念佛四十八法:22) 解释持名
22) 解释持名 Recite the Buddha’s Name to Overcome Animosities All untoward circumstances and events in life are the result of adverse causes and conditions [from previous lives]. Do not, therefore, develop ev il thoughts and create karmic debts – perpetuating the cycle of resentment and wrongdoing into the future. Adapt to causes and conditions and, more important, do not forget to recite the Buddha’s name. The Buddha is all wisdom, all light, all merit and virtue. He will respond to your call, and even if you meet with untoward circumstances, these will soon turn out to be favorable. 凡一切逆境当前,俱是惑缘照面,不可再起恶念,引起将来恶果,只须顺而可避则避 之,可消则消之,但随因缘勿忘念佛,佛有无量智慧福德光明所加,境缘即转,无疑 也。 Commentary “The knots of resentment and hatred should be severed, not retied.” To avoid repaying one wrong with another is the way to put an end to all wrongs. The safest way is to recite the Buddha’s name. Ten thousand hardships, bitter and harsh Are dissipated instantly with one recitation of the Buddha’s name; To recite is to sever resentment and hatred, If the mind is pure, how can the infernal gates close behind us? Recite the Buddha’s name, spread compassion around; Enemies and friends being equal, where can disaster be found?
